MIT/Lincoln Labs CCID20 W67C1 CCD Test Results

This is an MIT/Lincoln Labs 2Kx4K high resistivity CCD from the phase 1 work. It was processed before the new, improved backside treatments were developed, so it exhibits the original level of QE non-uniformity. The large number of hot pixels makes the device suitable for testing only. Other properties (CTE, QE, etc.) are similar to other high resistivity MIT/LL CCID20 CCDs.

  • A summary report is available.
  • Original postscript files are available from our anonymous ftp server and these provide better resolution and clarity than is usually possible on a web page. Here are a few figures to illustrate device highlights:

    Dark
This image shows a long dark. The primary point to be illustrated is the many hot pixels, some of which overflow the pixel barriers to produce hot columns.

This image shows a 1000s dark exposure. It illustrates why this CCD was given a rating of C. It is useful for basic system testing, but is not a good science-grade device. (Most of the individual bright pixels are cosmic-ray events.)
